2013 Dodge Dart Inventory/Specs/Videos/Pictures
New Dodge Dart
Built by Chrysler's Dodge division from 1960 to 1976, the Dodge Dart has since been a favorite among car enthusiasts, many of whom were thrilled when they heard the car would have new life breathed into it as it took on a new form in 2013.
While the Dart name originally appeared on a 1957 show car with an Italian-born designer, the production dart was lower-priced and had a shorter wheelbase starting around 1960. Around 1962, the car became a mid-sized car and was moved to a compact model by 1963.
Since Chrylser and Fiat merged, their first joint production is the new Dodge Dart, which has achieved 40 MPG in testing by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Critics point out that the buzz generated by past models such as Charger and Challenger makes the return of the new Dodge Dart almost expected—but Car and Driver Magazine points out that the compact design and feature-rich body and interior make it something to consider.
This is the first of the Chrysler line to be based on Fiat's architecture, which means the vehicle is a front-wheel drive that uses both longer and wider Alfa Romeo Giulietta underpinnings. It features specifically tuned MacPherson struts in the front and independent suspension in the rea, with both cradles constructed of die-cast, high-pressure aluminum.
The new Dodge Dart GT was added to the already expansive line of Dodge Darts in 2013, offering a higher-end model that retails at just under $22,000.
Inside the car, you'll find Nappa leather seats with the option of red or black leather, and both front seats and the steering wheel are heated. The touch-screen in the middle of the dashboard and the TFT display for gauges makes it even more luxurious, among other top-of-the-line offerings.
This model offers a 2.4 liter Tigershark MultiAir engine, a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, twin outlets for exhaust, among other amenities, and the carmaker says there could be a turbocharged version in the future.
